The current COVID-19 pandemic is definitely impacting both current and planned construction projects. Larry Dysert of Conquest Consulting Group is participating as part of a multi-organization task force investigating the impacts of COVID-19 on construction. Among the issues being evaluated are changes at the construction sites to accommodate a safe construction work site, such as 1) requirements for pre-screening of personnel at site entry points, 2) increased levels for site cleaning and sanitation, 3) establishing and enforcing social distancing guidelines, 4) required changes in personnel protection equipment, 5) establishing self-reporting health guidelines and communication for site personnel, and 6) provision of contact tracing for site personnel that develop symptoms.
These issues may have impacts on both direct construction costs (e.g. labor productivity impacts), as well as construction indirect costs (e.g. costs for additional consumables, or for additional indirect personnel). Comments are closed.
